Elevating Your eLearning Design

We all hate boring, page-turning eLearning. But are we also guilty of creating it? In this session you’ll learn how to move beyond the basics of eLearning in order to acknowledge your learner as a participate in eLearning, despite its asynchronous nature, and start to engage them in meaningful ways that translate to behavior change. In this session, we’ll explore:

  1. Fundamental eLearning course flow and how to take it to the next level through thematics, stories, and giving the learner a role.
  2. Some instructional models to consider for how to organize your content in learner-centric ways.
  3. How to design meaningful interactions in eLearning that approximate the performer’s reality in order to promote learning transfer.
  4. How to approach standard “presentation of information” slides/content in more effective ways.
  5. How to budget your course design around the things that matter most, and manage your design and development time in the same way.
  6. Accounting for the asynchronous nature of the eLearning experience through informed design strategies

We’re not just going to talk about the theory of this - we’re going to show you tangible examples that can help to illustrate the concept and inspire you in your own creative path.

Bonus Takeaways:
  • A free checklist for “designing with development in mind” that will allow you to ensure you’re planning all the most important details of each of your key activities.
  • Suggestions for ‘getting started’ resources for instructional designers looking to break into the eLearning space.
  • Free digital resources, blogs, and articles on eLearning design.
  • Free storyboard templates from eLearning Brothers
