    Mission Statement:

We unite, strengthen and advance credit unions.

    Vision Statement

We are the innovative leader - the chosen resource - empowering credit unions to improve people's lives.

    Our Values

To create a successful environment for our employees and the credit unions we serve, we uphold the following values:

    Exceed expectations

    Embrace change

    Serve with honesty and integrity

    Innovate

    Foster teamwork

    Information about the role

If you think it’s super fun to teach a class of adults things like member service, robbery prevention, BSA and the credit union philosophy, and you stay awake at night thinking about event logistics, insightful speakers, local venues and nametags, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for an experienced Director of Training and Events to help member credit union staff and volunteers improve the overall operations of their credit unions through insightful and educational trainings and events.

Your job will be to identify the needs of our member credit union staff and volunteers and then develop/coordinate/conduct training or conferences to meet those needs. These could be small trainings in-house with a handful of people, seminar-style in a larger group, or distance training like webinars.

What do credit union people need to know? Anything from core skills at the credit union (cross-selling, member service, robbery prevention), leadership skills or more technical topics such as BSA and regulation training, just to name a few.

To work with us, you’ll need:

    • Bachelor degree in communication, education or marketing or three years equivalent work experience.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of training techniques and experience with adult learners.
    • Superior communication skills, organizational skills and computer skills.
    • Working knowledge necessary for interacting with credit union personnel, board members, and serving as a representative of the Heartland Credit Union Association.

You’ll also get to travel the great states of Kansas and Missouri about 25% of the time. We estimate about one night away from home per week. The best part is, you can choose to work out of any of our five offices!

    • Overland Park, KS
    • Topeka, KS
    • Wichita, KS
    • St. Louis, MO
    • Jefferson City, MO

We offer a competitive salary with an excellent benefit package, so send your resume with salary requirements to jobs@heartlandcua.org. We are waiting to hear from you!

We’re pleased to let you know that the new certification program being developed by the ATD Certification Institute has a name: the Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD). Thanks to many of you for helping us reach this important milestone.

    Associate Professional in Talent Development

This new program will provide our colleagues who wish to focus on a few areas of expertise or who are newer to the field a way to differentiate themselves in a highly competitive talent market and demonstrate expertise to employers or clients:

    • Registration for the APTD program will begin in June.
    • The first exam will be offered in September.

The new APTD certification is more narrowly focused than the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), our field’s premier certification. It will test knowledge on three primary areas of expertise from The ATD Competency Model, along with evaluating learning impact and the global mindset foundational competency.

Again, we want to offer special thanks to the nearly 500 individuals (ATD members, CPLPs, and others) who provided input for the name of the APTD program and who took part in the recent validation survey on what should be tested on the APTD exam. The development of this new program has relied on your engagement and ideas.

We hope you will continue to provide input and share your expertise to help us shape the APTD certification. More information about how to get involved and a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) can be found on the ATD website.

Thank you for being part of our global community of talent development professionals. With your engagement, together we are creating a world that works better!

    Best regards,

    Tony Bingham
    President, ATD CI
