The Brain Plasticity of Triggers, Hot Buttons, and Outbursts  - Dr. Patrick Handley

Emotion overrules thinking. Emotionally embedded neural connections and chemical reactions in the body speed through us and fire more quickly than rational thinking patterns. As talent development professionals, we spend much our careers helping people override instinctive reactions. This session explores why good training is so often displaced by stronger emotionally embedded triggers and hot buttons. Applying the science of brain plasticity can better assure our success and help make training stick.

Patrick Handley, Ph.D.   Author, consultant, personality assessment specialist. Consultant, speaker, and trainer for 35+ years. Dr. Handley is best known for having created the INSIGHT Inventory. It has been used for over 30 years by TD professionals in KC area, nationally and even internationally. Patrick’s newest book, LEAD with INSIGHT…and become the leader you want to be and is currently finishing up the manuscript for upcoming book, Eliminating your Triggers, Hot Buttons, and Anger Outbursts – due out in late 2017.
