Program Description: 

Calling all Instructional Designers and anyone who want to improve their layout and design skills!

As a content developer, it is essential to understand the basics of design & layout. June’s eLearning SiG is designed to help you learn and apply four basic design principles to your learning and development projects. Dusti Howell, PhD, a retired professor of Instructional Design and Technology, will cover the four design principles: Proximity, Alignment, Repetition, & Contrast.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Recognize & recall the four design principles and their meanings: Proximity, Alignment, Repetition, and Contrast
  • Relate how the four design principals can be used in all types of presentations & materials
  • Recognize how these four principles can be used to improve your projects

Speaker Bio: 

Dusti Howell, PhD, is a retired professor of Instructional Design and Technology at Emporia State University in Kansas. He earned a PhD major in Educational Technology and a PhD minor in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin. He taught at ESU for over two decades teaching a dozen courses including Multimedia Design, Digital Storytelling, Developing iPhone and iPad Apps with Xcode and Digital Game-Based Learning. He is now developing ‘The Quest for Happiness’ project which includes presentations, an online course and a book to combat the rising wave of depression.
