For Shawn Reid, nothing is more satisfying than the lightbulb moment – witnessing concepts click into comprehension. Like many in the Learning and Development world, he started his career somewhere else - sports journalism - and discovered his true professional home by accident.
It started with an observation and a question - a trusted friend who pointed out his excitement any time he talked about the training he was doing as a side duty, and asking if maybe he'd want to do that type of work full time? Now, after more than a decade and a half in the L&D sphere in a variety of roles, Shawn is a Learning Content Designer at Husch Blackwell. He might not have become the next great American sportswriter, but every day he gets an opportunity to help someone else become the next great American (whatever), and he wouldn't have it any other way!
Despite leaving behind his sports-writing career, watching, reading about, and chatting about sports – especially the Chiefs and Royals – remains a favorite pastime for Shawn. And as a parent of kids who seem to age six months every time he turns around, he has acquired a new love (necessity?)– good coffee with an extra shot of espresso!
