Four years ago, H&R Block launched a virtual tax training program to 90,000 tax professionals, resulting in improved exam scores and high participant survey results as compared to past training methods. Speaker Bios

Shawn Scheffler

Shawn Scheffler leads the virtual classroom for H&R Block, which delivers more than half a million hours of continuing education annually for 90,000 associates. His passion for people development and strategy has resulted in a team that delivers 600 percent growth each year while exceeding both training and business results with the blended learning initiative of virtual instructor-led training. Shawn is a recent ATD award-winning trainer and recipient of the ATD industry award for organizational learning and development for certifying 77,000 tax professionals as ACA specialists in just six weeks on the still-evolving Affordable Care Act, which affects the tax returns of thousands of clients. He recently received the ATD Top Trainer in Kansas City Award. Shawn loves LITEing the fire of performance and moving organizations into maturity in the L&D space by focusing less on the event of training and more on leadership, incentive, and environmental support to drive performance.

Jane Hermstedt

Jane Hermstedt is a training manager at H&R Block, as well as an internationally recognized leadership speaker and trainer. For the past 15 years she has designed training programs for fast-tracked Dubai managers, Indian software engineers, South Korean flight crews, and Albanian school administrators, among many others. Jane has traveled to more than 70 countries, and her unique approach to training development is inspired by the rich variety of effective leadership she has witnessed around the world. Jane has a BA in history, an MA in international relations, and a master's certificate in executive and professional coaching. She belongs to the Association for Talent Development and the International Coach Federation.
