Elizabeth McJimsey Souder has “been there, done that.” She lifeguarded, taught swim lessons, and choreographed water ballet routines in her teens. One summer in college, she worked as a swim coach, busgirl, receptionist, tutor for an autistic boy, and night-shift assembly line technician at the local newspaper. After college, she was as a secretary and clinical research assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital. In law school at the University of Kansas, Elizabeth’s plan was to move back to her beloved Colorado and traipse around the mountains in her 501 Levis and t-shirt as a water lawyer. It was a great plan until she became reacquainted and fell in love with her husband while playing intramural basketball. Her next pivot took her Sprint PCS back when cell phones were just an idea, and before she knew it, she was a corporate lawyer at the largest employer in Kansas City. In 2008, she sat down with two highly respected attorneys and created a job that didn't exist at one KC's largest law firms. It was all AMAZING! In 2019, Elizabeth took another leap. This time, out of law and into a new and fascinating area of organizational health that aligned with everything Elizabeth had learned along her journey and represented the culmination of everything she valued. Authenticity. There is no “one way” to do life, no path to success. Our journeys are incremental and best built through our relationships, our own recognition and alignment with who we are, and the talents we bring to the world and the marketplace.
